About the Authors:
Bill Wanrooy
Growing up in Michigan, Bill Wanrooy's passion for skiing blossomed at Cannonsburg Ski Area, where he would log 100+ days a season. While studying at Lake Superior State University and Indiana University, he spent most of his time on the slopes at Searchmont Resort and Ski World. Since then, Bill has appeared in skiing advertisements, spent time living in Turkey, and traveled the globe in search of deep, untracked powder. Bill now lives in Kalamazoo, Michigan as he continues to explore snowcat skiing and helicopter skiing operators worldwide.

Media Commentary:
"A comprehensive overview is exactly what this book achieves. After an introduction and tips to planning a heli ski trip, the book offers four chapters of firsthand experiences in New Zealand, Russia, British Columbia and Colorado. The final eight chapters consist of reviews of heli ski and cat ski destinations from the Himalayas, Europe, Greenland, New Zealand, and the Americas."

"If you like this month's heli guide, you'll love Dream Season: A Worldwide Guide to Heli and Cat Skiing. This book, co-authored by Bill Wanrooy and Warren Miller celluoid hero Chris Anthony, contains info on every single operation on the planet including operations in out-of-the-way locations like Russia and Turkey. As a bonus, the "Firsthand Experience" chapters at the front of the guide feature accounts of actual experiences including two by former Freeskier Editor-at-Large Patrick Crawford."

"Sure all the info is available online now, if you have several years to find it, but it's a lot simpler to start your research with a good old-fashioned reference book in your hands. Dream Season includes several first-person accounts to get you wondering why some people's jobs (like ski writers) are better than yours, and then breaks the world's powder supply up into quick looks at more than 100 heli and cat operations around the globe. Listings from Alaska, Canada, Europe, Greenland, Himalayas, New Zealand, South America and Western U.S. offer basic but useful descriptions and facts."

"It's the summer of 2005 when the idea for this originally hatched. After ending a long relationship, it was time for me to embark on a ski trip of epic proportions. I dreamed of a trip that would allow me to set my mind straight, meet new people, ski some of the best powder I could find, and grow along the way. The winter in Colorado was damn near epic, with the most powder days I've had in a season since moving here. More bonds made with skiers and boarders than I can count. It was a winter I will never forget, the sweet lines, the deep stashes, and of course, the safety meetings! I couldn't have asked for a better winter!" - TJ Tiegen
