Details:
With a very respectable 6,000 acres of operating area, and a huge 600 annual inches of snowfall, Cat Ski Mt. Bailey is an attractive option for west coasters looking for some powder without the drive all the way up to BC. Your guide in the maximum group of 12 riders (6 minimum is required for the cat to run) will lead you down 15-18,000 vertical feet of chutes, bowls, and trees. The longest run is 3 miles and includes a drop of 3,000 vertical feet. Considering the stats, the operation is truly comparable with some of the best cat skiing the world has to offer.
At $350, the rates to ride a day are average (even inexpensive) by cat skiing standards. But if you can find enough buddies to join you, the cat can be privately reserved for $2,100 per day…. you do the math. You also get a deli lunch for your dollars. If you would like to stay for a couple of days, lodging is available at the Diamond Lake Resort, with options including motel rooms, two-bedroom cabins, and a four-bedroom cabin that sleeps 12. Inquire with the operation for ski/lodging package prices.
The Diamond Lake Resort also offers a number of other fun winter activities like snowmobiling, XC skiing, snowshoeing, and tubing, so you can bring the family or stay a couple extra days for yourself to have some more fun.
