Ski Arpa Cat Skiing – San Esteban, Chile, South America

Cat skiing in Chile with Ski Arpa

Season:
Mid-June to Mid-October

Getting there:
Get yourself to Santiago, Chile, by boat, plane, bicycle, hot air balloon, or car. Once there, transportation to the operation area is provided.

Details:
Located in the Chilean Andes on the west coast of South America, Ski Arpa promises a unique skiing and cultural experience. The terrain is of the exposed, alpine variety with multitudes of rock outcroppings to navigate and nary a tree to be found. 4,000 acres are included in the operation area, ensuring that the trip can be tailored from mild-to-wild, depending on the group’s preference. Four snowcat rides to the top will give you between eight and ten thousand vertical feet per day.

One great part of skiing in the Southern Hemisphere is that the seasons are reversed, so us Northern Hemisphere-ites can leave the summer heat behind and head down for some powder skiing in August!

Trips are based in Santiago, a 60-mile trip from the Valle de Arpa, where the operation is based. The day begins with a 7:00am departure from your hotel in Santiago for a 2.5 hour ride to the Valle de Arpa. Lunch is provided at noon, and the trek back to Santiago begins at 5:00pm. The rates are quite inexpensive, with four runs going for $195 during the high season and only $165 during the low season.
