The Untracked Guides Backcountry Directory serves a directory of leading heli and snowcat skiing operations from around the world, while the community allows users to interact personally with these operations.

Untracked Guides was founded in 2006 by heli and snowcat skiing enthusiasts who saw an unmet need for a guide book to backcountry skiing. In 2006, Untracked Guides published the first ever guide to heli and cat skiing operations worldwide. This book, titled: Dream Season: Worldwide Guide to Heli & Cat Skiing/Boarding brought backcountry ski operations to the fingertips of thousands around the world.

In the fall of 2007, the Untracked Guide to Backcountry Skiing and Snowboarding was released as an updated version of Dream Season.
